1. Program Objectives
Global Korea Scholarship is designed to provide international students with opportunities to study at higher educational institutions in Korea at graduate-level degrees, which will enhance international education exchange and deepen mutual friendship between Korea and participating countries.
2. Total Number of Grantees in the USA: 15 candidates
(Number of assigned recommenders for the Korean Education Center in New York: 3)
3. Available Degree Program: Master's Degree, Doctoral Degree, Research Program
4. Eligibility
o Nationality:
Applicant must be a citizen of the inviting country, and both the applicant and their parents (or legal guardians) must hold foreign nationality. Applicants or parents with dual nationality, including South Korean nationality, are not eligible to apply.
If the applicant or their parents previously held South Korean nationality, they must submit official documents issued by the South Korean government proving the renunciation or loss of South Korean nationality
o Age:
Applicants must be under 40 years of age(born after September 1, 1985). Current professors from ODA must be under 45 years old (born after September 1, 1980)
o Degree Requirements:
All applicants must have obtained the required degree (as specified below) or must be
expected to graduate by July 31, 2025

* Also, applicants who are expected to graduate by July 31st, 2025 can apply for
the program with a certificate of expected graduation and grades for all
completed semesters at the time of application. Such applicants must submit their
official graduation certificate (or diploma) and final academic transcript to GKS
Center, NIIED by July 31st, 2025. Failure to do so will result in the cancellation of
your acceptance.
o Grades:
Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of the entire curriculum from the previous degree program*must meet one of the conditions below;
* For example, previous degree for a doctoral degree program applicant is a master’s degree program
Score percentile should be 80% or above on a 100-point scale or be ranked in the top 20% of one’s class
CGPA must be equal to or above 2.64/4.0, 2.80/4.3, 2.91/4.5 or 3.23/5.0
o Health: An applicant must be in a good health, both mentally and physically,
to study in Korea for the full duration of the program.
5. Required Documents

* Please refer to the attached application guidelines for some other documents
for relevant applicants to submit.
** Regardless of the attached guidelines, the "Certificates" can be submitted without
an apostille. However, candidates selected for the interview must obtain and
present Apostilled Certificates, so please make preparations accordingly.
*** Applicants must submit 1 set of original application documents and 3 sets of
photocopies, identical to the original set. Total FOUR sets of documents must be
combined by a paper clip/binder clip each. (Do not use stapler to bind them.)
Documents must be submitted in the order of the checklist(‘Application Checklist’)
on the first page of the application forms and should be in LETTER-SIZE papers
regardless of the official guidelines. Applicants who do not follow this particular
directions may be subject to point deductions.

- Applicants in NY, NJ, CT, PA, DE should submit documents to the Korean Education Center in NY.
Residents outside the U.S.: It is recommended to submit to the Embassy/Washington Korean Education Center. However, you may choose the consulate/education center based on personal convenience

7. Timeline of Application Procedure
o Application Deadline(NY, NJ, CT, PA, DE) : till February 28th 17:00(EST), 2025.
All the required documents MUST arrive by the deadline.
o All the application documents must be sent by mailing to Korean Education Center of
New York.(We do not accept documents via email)
